When guitarist-singer Leslie West and drummer Corky Laing branched out from the Mountain side, they teamed up with Cream bassist-singer Jack Bruce and conspired to create an eclectic rock mix.
The opening title track of this digipak rages like The Who, with West’s bellowing vocals matching the power-trio’s backing. Bruce takes over on the hippyish, chorale-framed Out In The Fields, and honours are shared thereafter. The Doctor offers catchy rigging and throbbing rhythm, but the harmonica-fed Turn Me Over could be from the Italian Job theme, and there’s boogie piano to the fore on the likes of Pleasure. Shake Ma Thing does what it suggests, but Love Is Worth The Blues tempers things before the closing sweet chorale of Pollution Woman.
