This three-LP retrospective of the Berlin-based Cassettencombinat label covers its more interesting post-punk/industrial underground rarities from 1980-81. The compiler, Kiddy, who ran the label and was part of the band Sprung Aus Den Wolken, has managed to assemble a body of truly refreshing early 80s music. Daring and experimental, Cassettencombinat’s artists dived head-first into recording with punk sensibilities, basic instruments and early synth tones, creating music which was often raw, with dark edges and paranoid toppings. A beautifully produced, pizza box-style set contains the three albums. As a bonus, you also get a 7” single of Sprung Aus Den Wolken singing Que Pas from 1983 and Dub & Die/Rock’n’Roll Is Dead, on the flip, from 1981. This issue is limited to just 500 copies, so get them while you still can.
