Mystery Jets - Twenty One

A 300-only vinyl fleet for this sophomore release

Twenty One

Pure Groove makes its debut in this column with the intent of taking a selection of albums that were never destined to be released on wax – and to do just that. This Mystery Jets album is one of its first projects, but there are more to come. All of their vinyl editions will be strictly limited, with only 300 copies of this album being pressed. Presenting a bouncy, effervescent pop record with strong, dance-like bass, Twenty One is awash with sharp lyrics. The quality of the songs are patchy, but on this, Mystery Jets’ second album, the band show potential. The recording on this release appears to be from a digital source, with the top-end rounded off to make it more suitable for vinyl, making for a worthy first release by the label.
