After a night on the town, some people wake up cuddling a traffic cone, or even a toilet bowl. This lot returned with a traffic light, which is where this group took their name from, before tweaking it to Traffic Sound. The Doors, Cream and Jimi Hendrix were early inspirations, but these two albums, released in 1970 and ’71 respectively, reveal the Peruvian folk influence that had always given them an edge. Traffic Sound (Tibet’s Suzettes) was their third album and a mature release full of improvised psych solos. Lux, their final LP, enhanced their folk tinges and introduced more sociopolitical content to the music.
