Head Hands & Feet - Tracks… Plus

As a body of work, this had it all

Head Hands & Feet pretty much had everything: great singers, fine and distinctive players, strong songwriters and a sensibility that rivalled almost anyone else from their era. Sadly, it seems that record company incompetence cause them to lose impetus.

This 1972 album opens with some strong rock featuring Tony Colton’s driving voice on Let’s Get This Show On The Road, and moves on to a jogalong Little Feat vibe with Safety In Numbers. Harlequin features some beautiful intertwining guitar lines from Albert Lee, while Jack Daniels is unashamedly modelled on The Band, and is every bit as good as one of their songs. Hot Property leads off with a country-rock hoedown that moves into so-solid rock, while the two bonuses are both strong single-only tracks. Heads Hands & Feet are really ripe for re-discovery, and this album is the best place to start.
