Their publicity allies the outfit with The Band and Dylan and, listening to the Dylan-esque vocals and that …Big Pink-a-like sound, the comparison, for once, is pretty much on the nose. Sometimes the influence is a little overbearing, but there’s genuine talent in them there hills, so they’re one to watch. Populated mainly with selfpenned tracks, the album also includes a couple of blues covers in Jimmie Rodgers’ T For Texas and Leadbelly’s Take This Hammer.
This vinyl release also includes the CD version as a free extra. It’s an interesting marketing move and one that Warners has followed with its new Wilco vinyl release, for example. We wonder if this is a short-lived gimmick or if the rest of the industry takes note.
