A blistering 105 minutes from the sextet led by Damian Wilson saw a packed Peel – including Praying Mantis, Arena’s John Mitchell and ex- Threshold personnel – treated to 14 prog-metal belters, starting with the thumping percussion and guitar fusillades of Slipstream. Wilson, who’d been leafleting before the show (and checking out the lap-dancing next door!) was on fine form, egging the crowd on through the up-tempo Pressure, hitting the high notes with ease on the likes of Hollow, and taking to the floor among the masses on Long Way Home and others. His infectious enthusiasm rubbed off on one and all, the tempo-shifting Exposed a showcase for dual guitar action, and Part Of The Chaos building to a storming climax. Other standouts included the clapalong Pilot In The Sky Of Dreams, the catchy romp of One Degree Down and majestic Mission Profile. Fading Away saw the band encore in fiery fashion, before the soaring, chugging closer, This Is Your Life.
