Leeds’ The Sunshine Underground swaggered on-stage as if they still draw large crowds at major festivals, instead of a sparsely attended night club. The majority here clearly related to the band’s undeterred arrogance more than their musical output, barely able to stand, and making proceedings as uncomfortable as possible for the few that were there to enjoy one of our more interesting – and danceable – indie-rock outfits. Singer Craig Wellington stalked the stage and delivered passionately, but they favoured too much of 2006’s nu-rave debut, Raise The Album, although the anthemic Coming To Save You and Spell It Out, from last year’s Nobody’s Coming To Save You, were wasted here – these are enormous songs readymade for stadium singalongs and arm waving.
