The shambolic but loveable Slits’ peculiar brand of reggae-punk saw the very small crowd unite behind Ari Up (complete with flamboyant headpiece). With Tessa Pollitt on bass and Paul Cook’s daughter, Hollie, on keys, they mixed punk old and new, New Town opening, before Shoplifting and Typical Girls. Amazingly, new tracks like the bitter Partner From Hell and saucy Lazy Slam held their own. The predictable climax of I Heard It Through The Grapevine and Babylon proved popular, and Ari Up returned for FM and a short a capella set.
