The New Seekers
Rhyl Pavilion Theatre

This was the second time I’d seen The New Seekers in 2007, after a 33-year gap (mine not theirs). Featuring original member Paul Layton, Donna Jones and Mick Flinn along with more recent additions Francine Rees and Mark Hankins, they performed the hits including Teach The World To Sing, Circles, Eurovision entry Beg Steal Or Borrow and You Won’t Find Another Fool Like Me. But it was their other material that held most interest, a tribute to Maurice Gibb bringing us Run To Me and To Love Somebody. Marmalade’s Reflections also stood out, as did their clever arrangement of I Don’t Want To Talk About It/First Cut Is The Deepest. The startlingly beautiful anti-war song, The Strangest Dream, followed, before Pete Townshend’s personal favourite version of Pinball Wizard. After two hours of masterfully performed pop-rock, the group left the stage, and the audience were on there feet.
