This 172-glossy-paged presentation book follows Jarre’s Water For Life charity concert, spectaculary hosted in the Sahara desert last December, from conception through to its elaborate execution.Thankfully, the background info on beneficiary UNESCO and Jarre himself are kept brief, allowing for reams upon reams of illustrations, stunning photography and execlusive interviews to take centre stage.

Not that such a wealth of material becomes overwheming. The variety af information – both visual and textual – is paced perfectly, and allows for an easy navigation and flow from chapter to chapter. It overcomes any possible jarring, as technical drawings of stage set-ups merge into panoramics spreads of the show in full swing, all of which are given the room th breathe and dazzle in book’s landscape hardback format.

Clearly, the throught and effort poured into this offering is a scaled-down version of that required to put on the spectacle itself, and it’s a refreshing pleasure to find a making-of book that has taken time and thought to
