Terry Reid’s performance was ramshackle, rambling, disorganised and erratic, and therein lay much of its charm for an audience that largely comprised devoted, long-term fans. In truth, Reid’s voice was somewhat torn and frayed – following monitor problems at the previous gig – but on the dramatic Night Of The Raging Storm (about Hurricane Katrina), on which he sounded appalled and enraged, the performance was transfixing. The righteously angry Brave Awakening and the impassioned Rich Kid Blues were riveting too. Between songs, and sometimes during them, as the mood struck him, Reid’s anecdotes about Robert Plant and his Ginger Snap biscuits, and Steve Marriott (“silly bugger”), delighted the guffawing singer as much as they did the audience.
