Nektar - …Sounds Like This

Sweet honey drippings

Occasionally referred to as a German group, Nektar actually consists of four Brits who happened to meet in Germany – specifically at the Star Club in 1968. Forging their own twist within the burgeoning prog scene of the time, the band embraced psych tropes, giving a spaced-out feel to the music. Additional jazz sensibilities saw them utilise central themes for them to extrapolate from. This album, the band’s third, issued in 1973, saw them move away from the long, exploratory sequences that the group focused on with their first two LPs. The result is a more straight rock that, with their extended jams, offers some comparison to Deep Purple. An album to rediscover.
