Tony Hazzard - Sings Tony Hazzard

1969 debut album from top UK pop songsmith

Sings Tony Hazzard

Like many a jobbing songwriter in the 60s pop boom, Hazzard was a fine singer in his own right. This release is a little gem similar to the Graham Gouldman Thing solo album and the John Carter reissues. As well as his own charming versions of deathless classics such as Listen To Me (Hollies), Fox On The Run (Manfred Mann) and Hello World(Tremeloes), all of which are different enough from the hits to justify their inclusion, you also get a trove of missed treats. There’s the whimsical period piece, Sound Of The Candyman’s Trumpet, and Hazzard’s trademark soft pop in Fade Away Maureen and Hey Mrs Housewife. Any of these could have been the equal of the hits. A cornucopia of delights for fans of pure 60s pop.
