One bonus from having snow on the ground – the 100 Club wasn’t the usual sweaty sauna box. But temperatures rose from 8:50 as Stephen Dale Petit and his tight band got the aging audience moving on half a dozen oftentimes thrashy harmonica blues numbers. Petit’s vocal prowess is less than his axemanship, but Albert King’s As The Years Go Passing By and others laid a firm foundation for the guest-set after the break, shaking the place from 9:30. Among them were three generations of Rolling Stones guitarists, opening with Dick Taylor, then Mick Taylor, for uptempo stomping on the likes of The Crave and It’s All Good, before the sedate Muddy Waters blues of You Shook Me, with trombone blasts from jazzer Chris Barber. The insistent People Talk was followed by Barber leading Going Up The River, before Ronnie Wood took over the reins with Fancy Pants, orchestrating the fret interplay and funking things up on Spoonful. Other highlights included a trip to the Crossroads and Shakin’ All Over, which everyone was by the close.
