Six weighty blues-rock numbers from Shaun Murphy (vocals), Paul Barrere (guitar) and co see the old stagers meander from wire-bending guitar and organ on opener Magical Creatures, to the fe/male vocal-led gospel boogie of Feats Don’t Fail Me Now – all in glorious bootlegquality stereo. One Clear Moment/ Sunday Jam hints at the 12 minutes of Santana-does-jazzfusion Joanna to come, while Spanish Moon/Skin It Back stomp on like a funky Fleetwood Mac for quarter of an hour. Not to be outdone, Dixie Chicken is trotted out for 21 minutes, with smoky trumpet and honky tonk piano creating a barroom feel akin to Randy Newman.
