Rising from the ashes of two older groups: The Rabble and Unnatural Act, The Spectacles initially only set out to fulfil remaining bookings left open by Rabble’s demise. When they entered the studio in 1980, however, the band straddled various punk sub-genres, foisting aggression onto synth-based post-punk arrangements that result in raucous garage band recordings with a futuristic edge.
