5th November, 2010

View: all over

On the first evening, The Trip, featuring Episode Six’s Wegg Andersen, played their magnum opus from 1972, Atlantide, while Le Orme refreshed Smogmagica, from 1975, ex-King Crimson’s David Cross joining them for All Infuori Del Tempo, followed by Crimson’s Exiles. PFM headlined, and Jethro Tull’s flautist Ian Anderson performed on the classy Bouree, My God and evocative La Carrozza Di Hans, from 1971’s PFM debut. The second evening witnessed the extraordinary comeback of Ricevuta Con Raccomandata Di Ritorno, much loved for their sole 1973 album, and back on the scene with Il Pittore Volante. Focus’ organist/ vocalist/flautist Thijs Van Leer joined RRR for the evergreen House Of The Kings and the beautiful early Raccomandata tune, Un Palco Di Marionette, while Goblin’s Claudio Simonetti played keys. Naples’ Osanna featured David Jackson (ex-Van Der Graaf Generator) in their commedia dell’arte, and Banco (Del Mutuo Soccorso) ended the two days, with Asia’s John Wetton starring on Starless And Bible Black, while the marvelous anthem, Non Mi Rompete, saw Francesco Di Giacomo and Wetton sing in Italian and English, respectively. An extraordinary event.
