Had Primal Scream played the theme from Postman Pat, the Barcelona crowds would’ve partied regardless. But Bobby G and the boys were in sizzling form, bouncing and blasting through a set drawn from their catalogue with glee, not least the recent, bang-on Beautiful Future. The plaza was itchy: Health & Safety would go nuts in the UK at such sardinepacked, undulating masses of roaring fans here, but it added to the breathlessness of the Scream. When they launched into Movin’ On Up and Get Your Rocks Off, the old brewery overshadowing one of many stages of the Le Merce festival seemed to get its groove on. An energetic performance, free-spirited and soaring with confidence. Believe me, these boys ain’t finished yet.
