Price Guide for The Beatles American Records (6th Edition)

Perry Cox hasn’t put out a Beatles price guide since 1999, but the wait’s been worth it, because he’s chosen 498 Productions as his publisher. 498 Productions was founded by Bruce Spizer to put out his own excellent Beatles records guides (The Beatles Records On Vee-Jay; The Beatles Story On Capitol Records), books so beautifully put together that you don’t have to be a record collector to enjoy them. This Cox/Daniels tome is no exception. As the first full-colour price guide, the illustrations alone make it worthwhile, but it’s packed with other information as well. The book not only covers Beatles singles, EPs, and albums (in vinyl, tape, and CD editions, including promos), there are also sections for solo Beatles records, the Apple and Dark Horse labels, Pete Best and George Martin’s records (both candidates for “fifth Beatle” after all), and compilations. Values are given for records in G, VG, and NM condition. Introductory essays go into further detail about grading, promos, acetates/test pressings and other such topics, dropping in such nuggets as how the value of certain 60s Beatle releases have “outpaced not only inflation, but the stock market as well”. Essential for collectors, and a highly useful reference guide for everyone else.
