Through music journalist Uwe Nettelbeck, Faust, the Velvet Underground of Germany, were given money and artistic freedom to create fantastic music, and they delivered on albums from Faust (1971) to Faust IV (1974). When they split, it was the mystery surrounding them that, along with the music, sustained the myth.
