Perhaps looking to escape the folk-rock/protest label that had dogged him since his 1965 hit heyday, PF Sloan took the opposite road to some in 1967, moving from Los Angeles to New York. He secured an introduction to Atlantic who, appearing to believe in his talents, allowed Sloan to cut this album. Perhaps inevitably, then, it became a transitional album for Sloan.
