This triple album might be low on sound quality but it’s high on rarity value, collecting a number of live recordings. Firstly, there’s one recorded at Stockholm’s Filip Club on 26 August 1967, which is followed up by a mixture of radio sessions and appearances at the Amougies and Bilzen festivals in 1969 (the latter including an appearance from Frank Zappa).
The vinyl presents a tale of two bands. The ’67 gig sees the Toes fully dipped into popsike tropes, with a performance packed with grit and verve. The later sets see the band transformed into a pseudo-early Pink Floyd, full of whimsy and flights of imagination. A valuable live artefact.
