The Cult reached a pinnacle with this release and, arguably, never hit the same heights again. The inclusion of She Sells Sanctuary, with Ian Astbury’s haunting lyrics and its stand-out guitar riff played by guitarist Billy Duffy, lifted the song to rock standard status; that said, many Cult fans name check the title track as the album’s highlight. Offering a mixture of goth with hippy, trippy psychedelic vibes, Love also features another single stand-out, Rain. This limited edition gatefold LP secured together by a red paper ribbon also includes a bonus 12” single of She Sells Sanctuary, with three remix B-sides, Howling, Dogstar and Assault On Sanctuary.
