The Business - Keep The Faith

Oi! The comeback album

The Business, one of our earliest Oi! outfits, kept the flag flying longer than most, but by 1988 even they’d had enough. Their last UK show was the legendary Main Event in London, and then no more was heard of the cheeky chappies for around four years. In 1992 singer Micky Fitz made a tentative guest appearance at the Astoria with The Elite, the response to which got him thinking, and he reformed the band for a Bobby Moore Cancer Trust charity gig with former members Steve Whale, Steve Kent, Micky Fairbairn and new bassist Lol Proctor.

A surprising new fan base around Europe and the US emerged and the band toured both territories, releasing the Anywhere But Here single for German label Walzwerk in April 1994. Come the end of the year they confirmed their new-found status with the fine album Keep The Faith, on Century Media.

Lyrically, the old streetwise themes remained, but the production was much more lush than the band had previously enjoyed, and they wisely upped the pace in keeping with the times. Keep The Faith laid the foundation for the ‘new’ Business, which, with Fitz still at the helm, continues packing ’em in at punk festivals around the world.
