Threshold were on early, before 8pm, for their stirring set of progressive hard rock, featuring a returning Damian Wilson on vocals, leading the troops through proud renditions of the likes of Pilot In The Sky Of Dreams and the closing flourish of This Is Your Life, which saw the packed crowd in singalong mode before DW stage-dived into them. That set the scene for a fiery 90 minutes from the US-Scandinavian quintet led by gothic-looking singer Khan, and bolstered by female backing vocals/violin on the opening Solitaire. It set the prog-metal standard for a romping set, thunderous drums and sweeping keys shaping the likes of the uptempo Rule The World and other new cuts from Ghost Opera. The pace eased for Descent Of The Archangel, but a huge Youngblood guitar solo and drum roust led into Center Of The Universe and the chugging singalong of The Haunting. The riff-frenzy of Forever was followed by the Celtic-tinged Ghost Opera and storming Love You To Death, Karma and martial, air-punching finale of March Of Mephisto.
