Kaiser Chiefs

View: from a sticky, sweaty dancefloor

“I’m A Chief”, says Ricky Wilson’s Tshirt as he bounds on stage, and who are we to argue? He knows all the words and is very good at jumping around , two essential requirements for being main man of the Kaisers. The rest of the band do their bit too. They’re a funny looking lot, beards, big hair and waistcoats, but they don’t half give it some.

From opener Saturday Night, it’s straight into Everyday I Love You Less & Less, both crowd-pleasers from their first album. Wilson is all energy, getting the audience singing and clapping at every opportunity. He also does bit of crowd-surfing as the new, largely unfamiliar material demands more concentration from the crowd. Nevertheless, after a bright and breezy hour and 15 minutes, the band make a triumphant exit and everyone is happy.
