The fact that these 18 tracks are ordered chronologically means that the key title track and its associated Biddu-produced album doesn’t appear until halfway through. It’s preceded by two heavily-orchestrated but forgettable 1969 singles and some competent covers, including Band Of Gold and Stoney End, that Charles cut for albums such as Hot Hits. It’s not something you’ll rush back to often, though.
Charles’ huge disco hit, You Set My Heart On Fire, and the Kung Fu Fighting-influenced Take All Of Me all stand up pretty well, although tracks such as Disco Fever are too clich-ridden to be taken seriously today. For some period flavour, Charles’ mid-70s CBS contemporary, John Howard, provides the sleevenotes.
