Bill Steer, formerly the guitarist of Napalm Death and member of the older Liverpool outfit Carcass, formed Firebird in 1999, and this is their fourth LP. Despite Steer’s roots, he has taken Firebird down a more blues-rock path, along with Al Steer and Ludwig Witt, late of Spiritual Beggars. Hot Wings expands their exploration of 60s and 70s rock stylings in an almost archaeological manner, digging up old riffs but then manipulating and reinterpreting them. Recommended to fans of Humble Pie, Cream and even Canned Heat, there are only 100 copies of this clear vinyl version available.
