Hanuman - Hanuman

Manna for prog heads

Produced in 1971 for the German Kuckcuk label, Hanuman will be immediately recognisable to those interested in classic prog from the likes of Jethro Tull, Camel and, more directly, Van Der Graaf Generator. Displaying varying time signatures with pastoral elements interjected with flute, harpsichord and a VDGGcentric, slightly aggressive saxophone accompaniment, the four-piece recorded five tracks, offering plenty of time for sonic explorations and complex musical structures to unfold. Hanuman renamed themselves Lied Des Teufels in 1972, while band member Rüdiger Uhlig would leave to join the heavy prog outfit Murphy Blend.
