The demise of the thoroughly decent Keef Hartley Band led to this disappointing mid-70s outing; a result of collaboration between Hartley and fellow brave Miller Anderson. The sub- Roger Dean artwork is illustrative of the overall quality, as this is a rather charmless jaunt through mid-Atlantic blues-rock that fails to ignite. Thieves And Robbers and Long And Lonely Night stand out as particularly wearisome and, for the most part, the distinguished names involved do themselves no favours.
There is, however, a point to struggling through the record, as the 11-minute Looks Like Rain brings a break in the clouds of mediocrity. Driving Hammond organ, some (finally) great drumming from Hartley and a few nifty runs from Derek Griffiths… if only it all sounded like this. A long time in obscurity was probably justified, though, as usual, Eclectic have done a fine job, including a bonus version of the killer last track. Despite that, this is only for those who are already partial.
