Housed in a digipak with four fuzzed-up 7” mix bonus cuts, the nine-song main course is a feast of Leslie West-led bluesy hard rocking in the Cream vein. From the opening standard, Mississippi Queen, with its Southern rock thump, we get a high-octane ride, complemented by the Jack Bruce epic Theme For An Imaginary Western (complete with Procol Harum-like keyboards and lofty vocals). Never In My Life boasts Corky Laing percussion akin to the band’s classic Nantucket Sleighride, and Silver Paper is the sweetest of blues rockers. The instrumental interlude of To My Friend will please Tullites, while the syncopated Boys In The Band finishes with a flourish.
