Blood Red Shoes have a little bit more about them than The Ting Tings, and are far more innovative. Drums and guitars from Steve Ansell and Laura Mary Carter sit amid sitting-room lamps and shatter the ambience with a sonic assault of searing guitar and Laura’s vox. Box Of Secrets provides most of the set, with ADHD, You Bring Me Down, Doesn’t Matter Much and It’s Getting Boring By The Sea getting the mob hot and bothered. Ansell’s drumming is mind-boggling – like a Duracell bunny he just keeps on going, and even manages to take over vocal duties at times. An encore with Laura on drums and Steve on guitar provides a light moment.
