Leo Kottke - 6 & 12 String Guitar

Simply: acoustic brilliance

6 & 12 String Guitar

Despite his success, Kottke is one of the most underrated guitar players in the world. His picking style has often been compared to John Fahey’s (Kottke was signed by Fahey’s manager in 1970, the year before this album was originally released) and, like the oeuvre of that late great guitarist, Kottke’s work is far too esoteric, too unique, to be classified as simply folk. This was his third release and one of his biggest-sellers. Combining a pent-up energy with gentle arpeggios, his sound always locates itself around a powerfully eddying undercurrent. The nuances are further highlighted on this edition, thanks to Classic’s new Clarity series, combining multiple pressing advances with a new vinyl profile. An all-round study in excellence.
