1987: 20th Anniversary Collector’s Edition

While there are those who’ll always point to the early, bluesier rock of Whitesnake as their true heyday, there’s no denying that 20 years ago, 1987 saw the former Purple singer blow away his past once and for all. The 10- song selection is a nearperfect example of Whitesnake’s melodic rock craft, bristling with mellifluous vocals and guitar lines, sweeping percussive touches and their trademark cheeky swagger. Plus, it was all topped off by period MTV-friendly sub-porn promo videos (filmed with the then-missus).

It’s a case of “here’s one for you” times 10, from the classic Still Of The Night opening calling card to a retread on Here I Go Again. Between, standouts include the ballsy Bad Boys, bracing Give Me All Your Love and heartwrenching Crying In The Rain. Add four live bonuses and a disc taking in another four live video clips, plus four promos for the album’s singles, and this is a must for all rock fans.
