WARHOL LOT OF LOVE

I really enjoyed the article on the record covers designed by Andy Warhol (RC356) and urge you to publish more articles focusing on other graphic artists. A little addition though: there is indeed now an official list of all the covers he is known to be associated with: Paul Marechal’s Andy Warhol: The Record Covers 1949-1987 (Montreal Museum Of Fine Arts/Prestel Publishing, 2008).

It is a very much a labour of love; the sleeves’ reproductions were very carefully done, in their original format and also including all back covers! It is a landmark in the plethora of books about record covers published over the last 20 years, not only because of its lavish physical treatment but also because of its breadth of scholarship and research. It is available either as a single book or in a superb box set with its companion piece, the exhibition catalogue Andy Warhol Live: Music and Dance in Andy Warhol’s Work, held in Montreal until 18 January 2009.
