SHILL BIDDING: A FAMILY AFFAIR?
Recent letters re ‘Shill Bidding’ on eBay displayed a total naivety as to how dealers boost prices on eBay. A large number of dealers simply get family and friends to bid on items and boost them to significant levels. If the family or friend wins the item then the dealer simply clicks on a link which allows the auction to be cancelled and therefore not completed. This way the dealer incurs no charges and is free to list again, the practice then starts again. Simple if you know how.
