ROCK PIONEERS CELEBRATED

In response to Phil Rivlin’s letter (Passion And Fury, RC352), he and your readers may wish to know that the results of my interviews through the years with Fire-Fury record man, Bobby Robinson of Harlem, will be included in my upcoming book, Record Makers And Breakers: The Voices Of The Independent Rock ‘n’ Roll Pioneers. The book will be published by University of Illinois Press early next year. Among my other pioneering interviewees are Joe Bihari (Modern Records), Sam Phillips (Sun), Art Rupe (Specialty) and the Atlantic triumvirate of Miriam Bienstock, Jerry Wexler and Ahmet Ertegun, in one of his last interviews.
