OUR ISLIPS ARE SEALED

Alright, I think we’ve mapped out the contours of the debate between Steve Islip (record collecting is impractical and outmoded in the face of digital collection and fetishises the physical object over the music contained) and his detractors (pursuit of cold, hard functionality fails to recognise the emotional values beyond simply accumulating more music, and anyway mp3 compression is inherently inferior in sound). Can we have an embargo on all further letters both from and about Steve Islip until one side comes up with a new element to the discussion?

Myself I honestly don’t care if the future of formats belongs to the LP, the mp3 or the musical greeting card so long as we can have some relief from these warring factions.

While I’m writing, does anyone know if François Mativet ever made any recordings outside of the two Lard Free LPs he appears on? The man is my favourite guitarist yet is almost nonexistent in music history.
