MOSE MUSINGS

Many thanks, as always, for the excellent July issue of RC. Started off my five week holiday by reading about The Who´s Live At Leeds before turning over the pages to yet another ol´ favourite of mine, Mr Mose Allison. The interview came even more to life when by chance I just picked up the latest CD Tough Talk (Goofin Records) by UK blues/jazz veteran Pete Gage and played his tribute to one of his great influences, having fun using some of Mose’s old titles in the verses. By the way, Pete Gage (above, right) started out as vocalist with Jet Harris (also pictured) in the 60s and in the mid 90s he became the new frontman, after Lee Brilleaux’s untimely death, with Dr Feelgood. He left Dr Feelgood around ten years ago and has since then often worked with guitarist Gypie Mayo (ex- Dr Feelgood, ex-Yardbirds). Mr Mayo also plays guitar on most of the tracks on Tough Talk.
