JONATHAN KELLY RARITIES

Many of your readers may remember Jonathan Kelly, the singer/songwriter from the early 70s, who recorded the legendary albums Twice Around The Houses and Wait Till They Change The Backdrop. He was tempted out of retirement a couple of years ago and there are plans for a new album. During his career Jonathan worked with many famous artists, including Eric Clapton and Gary Moore. Clapton appeared on Jonathan’s self-titled debut, which often reaches prices in excess of £250 on eBay.

The Jonathan Kelly website is building an archive of his past and, although much material has been unearthed, much more is still missing. No known footage of Jonathan exists, not even home movie footage. His legendary appearances on the Old Grey Whistle Test have been destroyed, as well as his other appearances on TOTP, his RTE performances, and a German In Concert special also no longer exists. I wonder if your readers might have any footage of Jonathan either from TV or amateur footage of him. We’re also looking for audio tapes and we are particularly interested any studio tapes or acetates that may exist. It’s known that quite a few of these contain many rare and unreleased songs. If any of your readers can help they can contact me via www.jonathankelly.co.uk.
