GOD BLESS AMERICA
Being a lifelong fan of America I was very pleased to see that you gave them a four star rating on their CD, Here & Now, their first release since 1994. However, might I correct you on a couple of things? Firstly Dan Peek, the third member of the original trio doesn’t feature on the new record or indeed on any recordings since Harbor, released in 1977 – he left the group after this record to pursue a solo career.
Also they did experience a low profile during the late 80s/early 90s (mainly due to the lack of a recording deal) but the band never broke up as you suggest. Instead they kept on touring and continue to do so to this day mainly in their homeland but also elsewhere. Thankfully they came over here last month for their first European tour for a decade. Despite the curious absence of any promotion all the concerts were well attended and indeed some were sold out. I went to Wolverhampton Civic Hall and the gig was superb.
