CALLING DR. LOVE
In your article (Rockin’ The Box, RC351) about the Burt Bacharach Special on Granada ITV, 14 April 1965, you quote Marlene Dietrich talking about the maestro during a concert: “He’s my teacher, he’s my critic, he’s my accompanist, he’s my arranger, he’s my doctor”. Well, it might have been that the lovely legendary Marlene wished for a doctor like the handsome Bacharach but that’s not what she said during her concerts. What she really said was: “He’s my accompanist, he’s my arranger, he’s my conductor”- not doctor. But your version is probably closer to the truth, as it is no secret that Dietrich simply adored the gorgeous Burt.
